New word for Hudson

Hudson has a new word! He can properly identify a ball now. Brooks's second word was balloon, so maybe Hudson will have an obsession with balls.

Speaking of balloons, please no more balloons! Brooks is a little too obsessed with them and they cause him to go a little crazy when we have them in the house.

Ryan's folks came for a short visit on Saturday. It was nice to see them and we got to dine al fresco at Scotty's.

"Don't even think about taking away this banana!"

Ryan and I had a long awaited date Saturday evening. We finally used our free dinner at Hour Time. The hospital where I gave birth to Hudson gives you a free dinner there, but it's only good for one year so we needed to use it! We then went to Sacred Grounds and listened to a concert by Songwriters of the Round.

I was kicked out of my MOPS meeting today. It was Hudson's fault! He had a fever and had to leave the nursery, so that meant I had to leave (and Brooks too). I'm not sure what's going on with him, he is still running a fever, but it pretty good spirits otherwise.

Monkey Boy and Snot Nose

Well, it seems as though Brooks has really entered the terrible twos. Yesterday at Sarah's house he escaped from his pack n cry during his nap. He naps upstairs and Sarah was downstairs enjoying some peace and quiet when all of the sudden Brooks is at the foot of the stairs (with Lambie in tow). Brooks was even considerate enough to show Sarah how he did it! The good news is he did sleep in his crib last night. Sarah is going to try having him nap in a crib today to see how that works.

Last night as I was nursing Hudson, Brooks thought it would be fun to throw balls at the ceiling fan (as it was on)! And then he decided to climb on top of the changing table. And then this morning, Hudson was finishing up his applesauce-peaches-oatmeal-molasses-combo, I went into the kitchen to fetch something and I came back and Brooks was standing on top of Hudson's highchair tray! Eeeek! And we thought Hudson was going to be the climber.

I took the boys to the library this morning since it had been *forever* since I went. I used the double stroller and Brooks was starting to get a little antsy while I found the last few books on my list. I gave him my keys to play with and he manages to set off my panic button! Fortunately I was able to turn it off. And we had double meltdown while I was trying to check out. Of course, the checkout at the library is in this huge open space so both their cries just seemed to echo even louder!

Hudson is feeling better, not so much snot nose going on anymore. I guess the new cow humidifier helped him out!

Fun with the vacuum

Hudson hates the vacuum, I'm not sure if he's scared of it or what. He just gets this really worried face when it comes out of the closet. Today I wore him while I vacuumed and that seemed to be ok with him. Brooks likes to "help" me vacuum with his corn popper. Of course after we cleaned the floors, Brooks decided to dump his bowl of cheerios on the floor.

Still tall and skinny

Hudson had his 9 month checkup yesterday. He weighs 18 lbs and is 29.5 inches long. So that makes him still at the 10th percentile on weight and 90th on height. It looks like his top teeth might be starting to fight their way out!

Oooh, and Hudson happens to love ice cream as evidenced above. Brooks doesn't seem to be that crazy about it. I think he'd rather have fruit!

Brooks has a "new" rocking chair

Brooks is now the owner of my rocking chair from when I was his age. He is liking it. Hudson likes to push it around the house.

Hudson's 1st Haircut

Hudson had his first haircut yesterday. He did really well and looks even more handsome now!

Here's a pic before...with the craziness going on in front.

And here he is after! Auntie Jess did a great job (as always!).

Random pictures of the boys

1st family trip to Holiday World

We made our first family trek to Holiday World on Labor Day. Everyone had a fun time. The boys loved playing in the water park. Brooks even went down a few water slides in the kiddie section. Hudson had fun crawling around in the Jungle Jets area, our friend Susan took them in there while Ryan, Josh, and I waited in line for Zoombabwe. Susan said that Hudson kept putting his face over water jets that weren't on yet and she had to keep moving him. We could see the boys while we were waiting in line (slowly climbing to the top of 10 stories) and Brooks was jumping and running around.

Ryan and I finally got to ride the Voyage after a 2 year wait! It was worth it! It's moved to my top spot.

Hudson was a little upset that he didn't get to ride any rides. Actually, he did great and had fun watching Brooks. He will be big enough next summer!
